Also in this issue:
We visit Peter Doran in his 200-year-old farmhouse in Ireland, deliver five eclectic album recommendations, bring news of Mark Fry’s new album, visit a Coffee House in New York circa 1967, and Myles O’Reilly recalls creating music with Rónán Ó Snodaigh in a “quaint cabin, isolated from the world’s noise…where boundaries between reality and imagination blur”.
Irish Song-maker Peter Doran will release his sixth studio album on 23rd May. All the World is Running on a Mystic Code is described as an album of cosmic depth, meditative beauty, and stark contrasts.
It was recorded in his custom-built studio inside a 200-year-old farmhouse in the heart of the Irish midlands, and that’s where I’m taking you now…courtesy of Myles O’Reilly.
A Day Well Spent with The Dorans
It has been ten years since I first and last filmed the Mullingar-based singer-songwriter Peter Doran. On a summer’s day in 2014 we met on his home turf and created 'A Day Well Spent with Peter Doran'. I visited his granny, and Peter sang a song for her in her living room. In this reunion you'll see Peter's family has since expanded, and he's now the father of two beautiful daughters by his wife Therese. I'm not joking when I say, I'm already looking forward to making the 20th anniversary addition in 2034.
