I appreciate that many of the publications on Substack are standalone entities. KLOF Mag (klofmag.com) is an independent eclectic music journal, founded in 2004. We cover a broad range of music, weaving through the weird and wonderful - modern folk, jazz and avant-garde, psychedelic and experimental sounds, guitar soli, American primitivism, Improvisational, and more. Through a team of freelance writers and music lovers, we offer news, reviews, interviews, and other features and complement our written work with lovingly curated playlists and mixtapes.

Our primary reason for coming to Substack was to raise awareness of our publication and to garner support for what we do. It’s a great platform for independents like ourselves as we are also able to raise funds to support the work that we do. Ad revenues have been hit across the board, mainly due to Social Media which means we are almost totally reliant on our readers to stay afloat.
